SEASON 9 - LESSONS 19-36
WEEKLY LESSONS
WEEK 19: POSITIVE ATTITUDE
A positive attitude doesn't always come from seeing the good in a bad situation or facing adversity with a smile. Having a positive attitude just means bringing the best of you to what's in front of you. Your attitude won't magically change your situation, but it will change how YOU show up to it. And, how you show up makes all the difference.

WEEK 20: STEP UP
It's easy to point out what's wrong with your team. It's more difficult to decide what YOU can do to help make it right and then do those things. Everybody's waiting for someone else to go first. Stop waiting. Be the one to step up and do something. No goal is out of reach if you're willing to step up.

WEEK 21: UNCOMMON TOUGHNESS
There are four main types of adversity, and each of them comes with its own common response. The problem with these common responses is that they usually hold you back or make things worse. When you choose to respond in uncommon ways instead, then you start to build uncommon toughness.

WEEK 22: DO DIFFERENT
You are responsible for your work and your life. Random chance is not enough to get the outcomes that you want. If you want to get out of your work something that you've never gotten before, then you've got to do work that you've never done before. To get more from your work, for yourself and your team, you've got to do different.

WEEK 23: DARE GREATLY
Fear can either paralyze or propel. If you want to be successful in sports and in life, you can’t be paralyzed by the fear of failure, the fear of critics, or the fear of not being perfect. Instead, you have to be propelled forward by it; you have to be willing to take that fear and dare greatly anyway.

WEEK 24: SEPARATOR MINDSET
Separators are not just a list of things to believe or do. The separator mindset is a way of being. It helps to start with a list of specific actions to take, but you have to grow from there. When you grow into a separator mindset, that just becomes how you operate. Everything becomes a separator with the right mindset.

WEEK 25: INSIDE OUT
Adversity is a part of life. Often, we look at adversity from an outside-in perspective; we see it as something that's bad for us or that other people don't have to deal with. If we instead look at it from the Inside Out, we start to see that adversity is a gift.

WEEK 26: UNCOMMON RELATIONSHIPS
Every team has relationships, but not every team has great relationships. It's common to walk through life feeling alone. It's far more uncommon to build strong, supportive relationships where you go through life together. If you want to be an uncommon leader and to find uncommon success, then you can't live the common way. Uncommon success requires uncommon relationships.

WEEK 27: SPEAK LIFE
While there is no magic genie or wishing star that can change your life, there is a type of magic that can. It's the magic of words. Words have the power to change the future because words determine how you think about your present. When you choose to speak life to yourself and to others, it changes the way that you live.

WEEK 28: SPOT ME
Having a spotter in the weight room sets you up for success. And, if you do fail, they make sure you don't get hurt. Spotters aren't just needed when you're trying to set a new PR. Wherever you want to become your best in life, you need to seek out a spotter to help you get there.

WEEK 29: PIN CODE
For many things in life, you need to verify your identity by entering a password or a PIN code. This code lets the smartphone or ATM or website know that you are who you say you are. Every day, you have lots of opportunities to be who you say you are. When you are asked to prove your character, integrity, or discipline, choose to enter the correct PIN code and verify that you are that person.

WEEK 30: COACHED UP
When you feel stuck between where you are and where you want to be, the solution is to stack wins. You will never reach the big win if you don't start by stacking little wins. It's easy to get dragged down by how much more is left to do. But, if you focus on taking one step at a time, again and again, you'll be surprised how quickly you reach your goal.

WEEK 31: NOW WHAT
Success and disappointment feel very different. But, the next step after each of them is the same. After you succeed (or fail) you're left with the question: Now what? To answer that question, you'll need to ask four more specific questions: Is this in my control? What did I do well? What did I learn? What do I want to get better at?

WEEK 32: 5 P's
Everyone on the team goes to practice, but not everyone gets better. It's not the practice itself that helps you to improve; it's the way that you prepare while you are at practice. The 5 P's don't even mention practice. Instead, the 5 P's remind you that Prior Preparation Permits Proper Performance. It's the preparation that helps you perform at your best.

WEEK 33: SHOW ME
Proving that you are a trustworthy person isn't about what you say or believe; it's about what you do. If you are going to prove to yourself and others that you are trustworthy, then you've got to show it with your actions. You've got to demonstrate that you are who you say you are.

WEEK 34: FOUR QUARTERS
How long does it take to win a competition? For football and basketball, it takes four quarters. For track and swim, it takes the whole race. For baseball, it takes nine innings, while softball takes seven. No matter the form of competition, it takes every minute to win it. If you want to succeed, then you have to give your best for all four quarters.

WEEK 35: BEST OR BUST
Some people will say: If you're not winning, then what's the point in playing? This is a Win or Bust mentality, and it's a dead end for your goals. You don't grow by winning; you grow by giving your best. That's why a more helpful way to see things is with the Best or Bust mentality: Either you give your best, or you've wasted the opportunity.

WEEK 36: NO TITLE
Some people think that a specific position or title is required to be a leader. Some think that a leader has to be the smartest or most talented or oldest member of the team. None of these are actual requirements for leadership. If you want to be a leader, you need no title. Instead, you need to do the work, plus one.
