How do I implement both 2Words Curriculum and The Texas Way?

What's the difference?

These 2 curriculums are designed to be used hand in hand with each other, neither is a true or full replacement for the other.
2Words Character Development Curriculum
The 2Words weekly character development curriculum builds a foundation of character within your athletics programs. This curriculum was designed to be used weekly throughout the school year and covers foundational character topics such as: Discipline, Goals, Grit, Personal Code, Relationship, Servant Leadership, and Work Ethic.
The Texas Way®
The Texas Way is a sportsmanship curriculum developed to build a foundation of good sportsmanship within your athletic teams. This curriculum was designed to be taught before your sport season starts and provides refresher lessons and resources throughout the year. The Texas Way curriculum covers the 3 Pillars of Sportsmanship: Control of Self, Respect for Others, and Spirit of Competition.

How do I fit both into our schedule?

Our semester game plan guides provide a general outline of how to fit both curriculums into your school year.
Fall 2026  Spring 2027

*We recommend showing The Texas Way Foundational 4 videos during coaches in-service either before school starts, or before your season starts.

Then you choose a weekly rhythm for the 2Words Curriculum. Below are suggestions on how to fit The Texas Way monthly in with your weekly schedule:

Examples of Implementation 

1. Find a way to show both videos in one week.
Do you do 2Words Tuesdays? Try Texas Way Thursdays! Find 5-6 extra minutes, once a month, to show The Texas Way Monthly video.
(*Note: TTW = The Texas Way)
2. Replace the 2W focused themed courses with The Texas Way.
At the end of each semester, there is room for your coaches to do a focused theme course of their choice (4 lessons). You could choose to eliminate those from your gameplan to allow time for The Texas Way Monthly video (4 or 5 each semester) and spread your weekly videos to cover the whole semester.

3. Replace the Mackey Monthly videos with The Texas Way.
Want to choose your own themed course at the end of the semester, but can’t fit in an extra day a month? You could choose to replace the 2Words Mackey Monthly Message with The Texas Way monthly message. This would keep your game plan as written, just inserting The Texas Way monthly video instead of the 2Words Mackey Monthly.

The only wrong way is to not do it at all.
Find what works for your program - the only wrong way to do it, is to not do it at all!
